Seasons of Celebration

I have been wondering why the weekends are flying by so quickly over the past few months.  In looking back through my calendar, I can see why….weddings, graduation celebrations, birthday parties, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day. ‘Tis the season it seems. Looking forward my calendar doesn’t look much different.  Two weddings in July and a BIG high school reunion that I am helping to plan.  What fun it is to celebrate life’s milestones with the important people in your life!

My granddaughter, Lilly, turned three a few weeks ago. While she loved the idea of ice cream cake and the big party that was planned, she didn’t like the idea of blowing out the candles.  I am not sure why, but it seemed to overwhelm her a bit.  I know that her mommy and daddy were busy with all of the work that went into planning a special party for her.  Their house was transformed into an “Under the Sea” grotto for the themed Mermaid party.  A visit from Ariel thrilled all of the young party guests. Notice her Lillypulitzer dress and you will see that she was named after the Palm Beach fashion designer of the same name.

We all choose how we respond to busyness…..  I try to fit in all of the normal things that need to be done to run a household into the work week….that means loads of laundry before I leave in the morning or at night when I get home, grocery shopping right after work or at lunch time, meal prepping etc.  That allows me to be able to relax a bit and enjoy the weekends.  The seasons for weddings and graduations all seem to fall around this time of year.

Where we live, the winters can be challenging.  It seems that we try to fit all of the social activities into the warmer Spring, Summer and Fall months.  So, ‘Tis the Season….get out and enjoy being alive, being part of a family and part of a community.

Cheers to the weekend.
